Cloud 9 has been shaped around the idea that taking time for yourself should feel considered rather than rushed. From the treatment space to the way appointments are experienced, the focus is on calm, privacy and time to switch off.

Cloud 9 is a private setting in Harpenden, with twin treatment beds, a considered interior and a relaxation area created for unhurried appointments.
Our story
Two women with the same vision.
Ruth and Lynne first met on a dance floor in London in the early 1990s. What began as a chance meeting became a friendship that has lasted for more than three decades, through different careers, families and chapters of life.
Years later, a change in circumstances brought with it an opportunity to explore something new. With a shared interest in holistic therapies and wellbeing, Ruth and Lynne discovered the Japanese head spa experience and immediately saw how naturally it brought their backgrounds together.
Lynne had spent her career immersed in hairdressing and personal care, while Ruth brought years of experience from the beauty industry, product development, training and building businesses.
Cloud 9 grew from that combination: two friends, two very different careers and one shared idea — to create a calm, considered space where people can step away from everyday life and enjoy time devoted entirely to themselves.
Founder
Lynne
Lynne's career in hair began at just 16 years old, giving her decades of experience working closely with people and understanding the personal nature of hair and individual care.
Her career has included working as a specialist dementia hairdresser. Alongside this, Lynne built and ran her own successful mobile hairdressing business, specialising in balayage and blow-dry techniques.
Her experience extends beyond hairdressing. Lynne is also qualified in Indian head massage, bringing another relevant dimension to the experience she now brings to Cloud 9.
After so many years working directly with clients, Cloud 9 represents a new chapter — bringing together Lynne's experience in hair, personal care and head massage within the calmer, more considered environment she and Ruth wanted to create.
Founder
Ruth
Ruth's route to Cloud 9 has been very different, combining entrepreneurship, beauty, product development, training and marketing.
Before entering the beauty industry, Ruth spent ten years running a successful DJ agency. A visit to the United States then introduced her to spray tanning, and in 2001 she brought the concept back to the UK and built a business around supplying and training beauty salons.
Her work went beyond supplying salons. Ruth became involved in product development and marketing around early spray-tanning booth technology, while the business grew to supply more than 500 salons across the UK.
That experience of introducing new beauty concepts, working with salons and developing customer-focused businesses now forms part of what Ruth brings to Cloud 9.
